EU or Japan?

The initial idea of Lucile was to cooperate with the conventional supply chain in Japan and develop a sustainable dogi line with them. An old dream of working on environmental matters with Japan seamed within reach. From her residence in Berlin, she explored both options of setting up a supply chain in Japan or in Europe until it became clear, in May 2014, that the European supply chain reflected a better potential for a panoply of reasons. One of them was the availability of better offers for organic fabrics in Europe. Furthermore, aiming her dogi at a European customership, it seemed straightforward to strive for a regional supply chain. The decision to set up a completely new supply chain had two consequences: a longer developing process on one hand, potentially more flexibility and control on the final result on the other hand.
